Foreigners' Street Scenic Spot Returns to Chongqing's City Center

By YAN DENG|Dec 15,2023

Chongqing - There are many places for fun in Chongqing, but for those who grew up in the 80s and 90s, Foreigners' Street holds a special place in their hearts. In March 2019, when  Foreigners' Street relocated, it became the most cherished memory for a generation in Chongqing.

The good news is that Foreigners' Street is set to return to the city's center area. According to Mexin Group, a Chongqing-based company, the "No.2 Foreigners' Street" cultural and tourism project has started in the Ba'nan District.

The officials from Mexin Group said that the "No.2 Foreigners' Street" project differs from traditional theme parks and single industrial parks. It will better meet contemporary people's diverse, personalized, and differentiated consumption needs.

Over the next 3-5 years, the group plans to develop it into a large complex, integrating industrial production, sales, tours, educational experiences, tourism, leisure, and shopping to make Ba'nan District a new tourist destination.

The project will introduce internationally leading roller coaster projects, gather novel amusement devices worldwide, and integrate large-scale supermarkets, department stores, branded restaurants, markets, and accommodations, creating a unique living, social, leisure, and residential space.

In recent years, industrial tourism has become a popular choice for local leisure and vacationing for visitors from other regions. As one of China's six major old industrial bases and a southwestern industrial hub, Chongqing possesses a profound industrial history and rich industrial cultural resources.

When the project is completed, visitors can witness the entire production process of a digitalized workshop up close, experiencing the rapidly evolving world of smart manufacturing and engaging in interactive experiences. They can visit the Door Industry Museum to learn about various types of doors and windows, delving into the history and culture of industrial manufacturing.

Preliminary construction within the project is progressing, and the industrial tourism zone's second building is to be topped out before the year-end. Mexin Group is collaborating with several international and domestic cultural and tourism planning companies, design companies, and amusement equipment companies to create a high-standard immersive industrial park for people of all ages.
