Chongqing - The 6th Ice and Snow Sports Season and the 4th Ice and Snow Tourism Season at Nantian Lake, Fengdu, Chongqing, were officially announced at a December 20 press conference in Chongqing.

This year's Ice and Snow Tourism Season, themed "A New Wonderland of Ice and Snow," offers experiences in five areas: elite competitions, snow recreation, family getaways, educational activities, and local culinary delights.

It will feature over 20 ice and snow events, such as the 10th National Mass Ice and Snow Season (Chongqing Venue), the Sichuan-Chongqing Ski Challenge, the Snow Volleyball Invitational, and the Freestyle Skiing Competition. Starting December 22, 2023, and running until the end of February, these events promise an exciting winter experience.

In recent years, Fengdu County has leveraged its rich ice and snow resources to develop a thriving "ice and snow economy." The county has transformed its natural assets into a dynamic economic sector by focusing on enhancing winter sports and tourism offerings, establishing a unique snow-themed brand, and fostering enthusiasm for winter activities.

The Nantian Lake National Tourism and Holiday Resort in Fengdu, Chongqing, spans 15.95 square kilometers and is 160 kilometers from downtown Chongqing. It boasts a 115-hectare snowy landscape with snow depths up to 50 centimeters for about three months. 

Known for its natural snow quality and scenic beauty, Nantian Lake was named among the "Top 10 Skiing Destinations in Sichuan and Chongqing" in 2021 and a "National Sports Tourism Demonstration Base" in 2022.

Adapting to changing ice and snow tourism trends, Nantian Lake Tourism Resort introduces "Ice and Snow + N" experiences. Building on past successes, these offerings include ice and snow cultural exploration, educational activities, and promotional events. This approach integrates tourism, sports, culture, and cuisine for a comprehensive winter experience.

For example, to elevate winter sports excitement, the resort is launching "Chinese-style Cool Play," combining skiing, hiking, thrilling runs, and educational experiences. This program offers over ten activities, like the "Colorful Parade" Rainbow Cool Run, Ink, and Tai Chi Show, "Welcomes Spring with Chinese-style" Ice and Snow Carnival, Ice and Snow Winter Camp, and over 30 fun activities, including Snow Bowling and Snow Relay.

Beyond traditional ice and snow activities, the resort now offers new services to enrich the winter experience, including tailored ice and snow packages, festive New Year's Eve specials, and reunion meals.

Focusing on culinary delights, it features unique dishes like Snowland Hotpot, Mutton Soup Pot, and Firepan Barbecue, each infused with Fengdu's distinct flavors, providing guests with a unique taste of the local cuisine.

Targeting the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, including Nanchong, Banan, Rongchang, and Fengdu, the resort is implementing promotional strategies such as half-price tickets to attractions. 

Additionally, it is running the "Multitude of Businesses Rally Behind Nantian Lake" campaign, offering discounted tickets, coupons, and vouchers worth 1 million yuan (USD 14 million) to enhance the winter tourism experience with excellent skiing and snow viewing conditions.
