Chongqing - China recently wrapped up its longest-ever Spring Festival holiday, lasting eight days, with Chongqing emerging as the third most favored destination for incoming populations, following Chengdu and Guangzhou.

Tencent Location Big Data analyzed population movements in 36 cities nationwide, shedding light on the trends in direct-administered municipalities, sub-provincial cities, and provincial capitals. It tracked various aspects of the holiday, monitoring population movements, traffic conditions at key hubs, and the performance of industries like cultural tourism and consumer activities.

Chongqing North Station secured the fourth position in the national core transportation hub heat index, trailing behind Guangzhou South Station, Shenzhen North Station, and Chengdu East Station, marking the bustling moments at major transportation hubs during the Spring Festival.

In terms of aviation, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport claimed the position of the third busiest airport in the country during the Spring Festival, following Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport.

This year, the recovery of the cultural tourism industry took center stage during the Spring Festival holiday. Tencent Location Big Data highlighted the Wulong Karst Tourism Area in Chongqing, which secured a spot in the top ten among hundreds of 5A-rated scenic spots nationwide.

Apart from renowned tourist spots, leisurely shopping played a significant role in people's Spring Festival activities. Tencent Location Big Data's observations on the popularity of commercial districts and shopping streets revealed that Chongqing's Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street claimed the top spot as the hottest shopping district during the Spring Festival. Chongqing Guanyin Bridge Pedestrian Street also secured a place in the top ten.
