Chongqing Selected as Regional Venue for 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala

Chongqing - On December 24, the China Media Group (CMG) announced the selection of four regional venues for the 2025 China Central Television (CCTV) Spring Festival Gala. Chongqing, Wuhan (Hubei), Lhasa (Tibet), and Wuxi (Jiangsu) will each host unique regional celebrations in addition to the main venue in Beijing. 

Together, they will unite the nation and global audiences to ring in the Chinese Lunar New Year with joy, warmth, and festive spirit, offering a vibrant "cultural feast" on the eve of the Spring Festival.

Guan Hong, Executive Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, spoke at the announcement ceremony, highlighting Chongqing's significance as the largest riverside city in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. 

He emphasized the city's rich cultural heritage, its dynamic role as a hub for both business and culture, and its geographic location, which links the east, west, south, and north of China. 

Guan pointed out that Chongqing is well-connected to Europe and Asia via the China-Europe Railway Express and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It boasts a thriving global network of international flights and investments from more than 300 Fortune 500 companies. He invited the world to experience Chongqing's warmth, iconic hotpot culture, and international flair, promising a festive and unforgettable celebration.

Zhang Guofei, CMG's Head of the Art Programs Center, also expressed his excitement. He noted that the 2025 Spring Festival Gala will be the first since China's Spring Festival was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Zhang highlighted that this year's gala, themed around the Year of the Snake, would showcase new ideas, sincerity, and creativity. The gala will provide global audiences with a rich and festive experience full of the timeless charm of Chinese traditions.
