Chongqing - The third session of the Sixth Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened on Saturday.
Cheng Lihua, a representative of the Standing Committee of the Sixth Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, delivered the work report.
According to the report, the Committee carried out 59 key consultations, briefings, inspections, and research initiatives over the past year. A total of 1,551 proposals were received, with 1,364 officially filed after review. The number of proposals submitted during regular times increased threefold. All were handled on time, and the satisfaction rate was 98.16 percent.
In the past year, it supported the implementation of major national strategies in Chongqing.
In February 2024, the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, in collaboration with its counterpart in Sichuan province, jointly issued a work plan to promote the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. On April 10, they signed a cooperation agreement extending from 2024 to 2027 to advance the region's development.
Throughout the year, the Sichuan-Chongqing collaboration featured several landmark initiatives, including joint research on cross-jurisdictional litigation services, the construction of regional medical centers, and the advancement of high-quality citrus industry growth.
The Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC also focused on the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, contributing to national strategic initiatives.
In 2024, it conducted focused research on key topics to enhance the effectiveness of its work. Research teams produced reports on areas like urbanization and technological innovation, and relevant departments adopted many valuable proposals.
Over the past year, the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC has steadily advanced comprehensive reforms, continuously enhancing its effectiveness in practicing whole-process people's democracy.
Democratic supervision is an important function of the CPPCC. In 2024, the Chongqing Municipal Committee developed its first annual democratic supervision work plan, which outlined 13 key democratic supervision activities.
In 2025, it aims to organize 23 key consultation activities on topics like the deep integration of technological innovation with industrial innovation, conduct 14 major research projects on the high-quality development of the low-altitude economy and the establishment of new models for real estate development, and carry out 22 inspection and supervision activities addressing issues like the reform of state-owned assets and enterprises to better support the construction of the modern new Chongqing.
