Chongqing - The Three Gorges Museum presented us various visual feasts last year. So what kind of exhibitions will there be this year?
Cultural Exhibition for the Spring Festival: Auspicious Pig
Time: January 29 - March 3, 2019
Venue: Temporary Exhibition Hall A, 1F
Introduction: the exhibition will begin with the domestication of pigs. Also, it will display China’s time-honored pig breeding history and derivative culture with over 200 exhibits. Visitors can, therefore, appreciate the “pig” relics from the Neolithic Age to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912).
Time: January 20 - May 20, 2019
Venue: Painting and Calligraphy Hall, 4F
Introduction: the “Realistic Landscape” is a genre in traditional Chinese landscape painting divided according to themes. It refers to the existed landscape painting with concrete direction through realistic approaches. Moreover, this genre covers scenic spots and historical sites, well-known mountains and rivers, hometowns, gardens, buildings, pontoons, villages, etc.
Time: January 25 - February 25, 2019
Venue: Temporary Exhibition Hall C, 3F
Introduction: the exhibition will show over 150 pieces of Bai folk arts and crafts. They include the traditional tie-dyeing, silverware, woodcarving, embroidery, paper cuttings, pottery, and inkstone carving.
Time: March 29 - June 30, 2019
Venue: Temporary Exhibition Hall A, 1F
Introduction: Alphonse Mucha is a Czech master of the art. This exhibition will then show his changing life and artistic development in the context of Art Nouveau. The exhibits include more than 200 collections provided by Uměleckoprůmyslové Museum. Furthermore, the exhibition will illustrate Mucha’s aesthetic style and the impact of art nouveau.
Exhibitions of Yangtze Civilization: Marquis Yi of Zeng and His Era
Time: March 28 - June 2, 2019
Venue: Temporary Exhibition Hall D, 4F
Introduction: the exhibition focuses on the typical bronze sacrificial vessels and musical instruments in Tomb of Marquis Yi of Zeng during the Dynasties of Western Zhou (1046-771 BCE) and Eastern Zhou (770-256 BCE). Also, in combination with the bronze ware related to Chu culture, it aims to show the history of Zeng State.
The 2nd Exhibition of Landscape Paintings: Ancient-Style Landscape
Time: May 28 - September 20, 2019
Venue: Painting and Calligraphy Hall, 4F
Introduction: a number of painters will imitate ancient masters or follow their styles when drawing the ancient landscape. Thus, this way has built a bridge between the ancients and the painters. Meanwhile, it is also the shortcut to improve the skills of the latter.
Time: July 26 - October 27, 2019
Venue: Temporary Exhibition Hall, 4F
Introduction: Zhang Daqian is known as one of the most legendary artists in Chinese art history in the 20th century. Besides this, this year marks the 120th anniversary of his birth. The exhibition will offer visitors the excellent works such as Tour to Mount Huangshan, and Copies of Dunhuang Frescoes.
Time: late July - early September 2019
Venue: Temporary Exhibition Hall A, 1F
Introduction: centering on “art + technology”, the exhibition aims to show three themes. They include A Brief History of Automobiles: Learning from History, Automobile Art: Aestheticism Education, and Automobile Technology: Looking Forward with Innovation. In addition, these aspects will present a clear development history of automobiles. Additionally, it will also demonstrate the unique charm of collision and integration between automobile art and technology.
Time: end of September - December 2019
Venue: Temporary Exhibition Hall A, 1F
Introduction: the exhibition will focus on the 70-year development since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Also, it aims to show a variety of changes in society. What's more, it will use numerous ways, including voice recording, historical photos, scene restoration, video image, and optical technology.
