Avatr stood out at the show with its futuristic design. PR Newswire praised Avatr's concept car, the Avatr Vision Xpectra, for its sleek, powerful exterior design, sophisticated materials, and innovative interior technology.

The Avatr Vision Xpectra also symbolizes the brand's focus on drivers' emotions. AP News further highlighted that the car's intelligent interactive system, Vortex, senses and responds to the driver's emotions through light, motion, and intuitive interaction, integrating emotional intelligence into the driving experience.

In addition to Avatr, Changan’s Deepal brand also showcased several new models at the exhibition, further expanding the brand's presence in international markets. According to Business Wire, Changan will introduce a series of BEVs and PHEVs in Europe, with the Deepal S07 and S05 being the first electric models to enter the market.

The S07 has already launched in Norway and Germany and will debut in the UK. The vehicle features over 150 market-specific adaptations and has achieved the highest safety testing score in Europe. The S05, an important model in Changan's European strategy, made its European debut at the IAA Mobility.

As one of the most influential events in the global automotive industry, the 2025 IAA Mobility in Germany has drawn intensive coverage from German media. With 116 Chinese exhibitors at the show, German media paid attention to Changan.

Handelsblatt, Germany’s leading business daily, often compared to the Wall Street Journal, referred to Avatr as an “automotive avant-garde.” The publication placed Avatr’s concept model alongside those from VW, Audi, and BMW, describing it with terms like “elegant, extravagant, refined,” and “luxury from another star.” It also noted interest in Avatr’s production plans and technical details. Automobil Woche, a car-based media organization in Germany, focused on Changan’s confident presentation of eight new models at the IAA.

Chinese automakers challenge Europe's market at IAA Mobility

The IAA Mobility show served not only as a platform for Changan but also as a symbol of the rising presence of Chinese automakers in the European market, posing a challenge to local European brands. Multiple media outlets have reported on the growing competitive pressure Chinese car brands are exerting on the European and global markets.

One of the trends observed at the IAA Mobility was the aggressive push by Chinese electric vehicle (EV) makers into global markets. Auto Week, a car media, reported that Chinese automakers are no longer focused solely on producing low-end vehicles for the domestic market but are increasingly focusing on innovation in EV technology, making strides in both design and performance. These companies are challenging global competitors with competitive pricing strategies that are making it harder for traditional manufacturers to maintain their edge.

In the global market, Chinese automakers concentrate on expanding into the European market, with major players actively sharing their plans at the IAA Mobility. This marks a clear push into Europe, signaling their intention to challenge traditional manufacturers. Reuters reported that Chinese brands are setting their sights on the European market, where they see opportunities. However, it also pointed out that for these automakers to succeed, they will need to adapt their products to meet the specific needs and preferences of European consumers.

Europe's automotive industry views Chinese competition as its challenge at the moment. According to Voice of Indonesia (VOI), the arrival of Chinese manufacturers like BYD, Changan, and GAC has intensified the competitive landscape, as these companies leverage their strengths in both pricing and technology. This shift has forced European carmakers to reevaluate their strategies in the face of rising competition from the East.

At the same time, the decline in European manufacturers' sales in China, which has traditionally been their largest single market, makes their situation even more challenging. VOI highlighted that the drop in sales has compounded the pressure, noting that Porsche, for instance, experienced a 28% decrease in its sales in China in the first half of the year. This decline adds to the difficulties faced by European brands as they try to maintain dominance both at home and abroad.

German media also recognized the pressure Chinese automakers are exerting on the local industry. Handelsblatt provided detailed background and product information about seven companies, including Changan. It mentioned that Chinese manufacturers are using the IAA Mobility as a springboard to enter the German market.

Coverage by ZDF, a German TV station, acknowledged that e-mobility is seen as the future of the automotive industry, even for German manufacturers. However, it also objectively noted that German manufacturers are falling behind in the transition to electric vehicles, particularly in comparison to China. The report emphasized that the crisis is far from over, with challenges such as job cuts, declining market share, and increasing competition from China continuing to shake the German automotive industry.
