SERES Power Unveils New Super Range-Extender at IAA MOBILITY 2025

By RAN ZHENG|Sep 15,2025

Chongqing- On September 9, Chinese automotive technology company SERES Power launched its latest super range-extender system, along with a high-efficiency engine platform and a next-generation distributed electric drive ("e-Drive") system, during the IAA MOBILITY 2025 in Munich.

The new super range-extender system is built around its C2E Range-Extender Architecture and RoboREX Intelligent Control Technology.

According to the company, the design focuses on quiet operation, high integration, and high efficiency. The C2E architecture combines the engine, motor, control systems, and housing in an "All-in-ONE" design intended to reduce size and improve cost control, while RoboREX shifts the range-extender's operation from passive to active, enabling intelligent energy management.

SERES reports that this system reduces fuel consumption by 15 percent, lowers noise perception by 90 percent, achieves an energy efficiency of 3.65 kWh per liter of fuel, and reaches a maximum thermal efficiency of 44.8 percent, which the company says is among the leading levels for mass-produced range-extenders.

SERES Power has been developing range-extender technology since 2016 and now holds more than 3,900 patent applications along with over 100 national and industry awards. The technology is already in use in China through the SERES AITO brand, where sales of range-extended electric vehicles have surpassed 750,000 units. The AITO 9 ranks as the top seller in the 500,000 yuan ($70,238) luxury car segment.

In 2024, SERES Power reported annual revenue of 9.2 billion yuan, a 132% increase from the previous year. Production surpassed 600,000 units for core powertrains, while motor and electronic control products exceeded 900,000 units.

Representatives from major suppliers, including AVL, Bosch, Mahle, Schaeffler, Valeo, Stellantis, Mubea, and Infineon, as well as international media, attended the launch ceremony. SERES Power said it will continue collaborating with its supply-chain partners to develop power systems for global users, aiming to deliver safer, more intelligent, and more convenient intelligent mobility solutions.
