By HUXIN LUO|Sep 23,2025

Chongqing - Avatr, a Chongqing-based new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, unveiled its Strategic 2.0 plan at a recent press conference in Liangjiang New Area, outlining growth goals and expanded partnerships with Huawei and CATL.

Wang Hui, the newly appointed Chairman of Avatr, set out the company’s growth roadmap. By 2027, the short-term goal is 400,000 global sales and annual revenue of 100 billion yuan  (about 14.06 billion U.S. dollars). By 2030, Avatr targets 800,000 units, with a long-term ambition of 1.5 million units by 2035.

To achieve its growth objectives, Avatr plans to deepen its partnerships with Huawei and CATL. They will co-develop a series of new vehicle models, with five upgraded versions scheduled for launch by 2026. By 2030, Avatr plans to roll out 17 new models, spanning sedans, SUVs, MPVs, sports cars, and other popular segments.

Technological efforts will center on intelligent driving assistance, smart cabins, and batteries. Collaboration between Avatr and Huawei will focus on the first two, as they rely heavily on AI and computing power.

Richard Jin, CEO of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution Business Unit, explained that Huawei’s newly released computing solution, capable of supporting over one million self-developed AI accelerator cards, will significantly enhance Avatr’s smart systems.

While Huawei has committed full support to Avatr’s growth, some concerns remain over resource dilution, as Huawei also partners with other automakers such as SAIC. These parallel collaborations could make it harder for Avatr to preserve a distinct technological edge.

Regarding battery, Gao Huan, CTO of CATL, confirmed that all Avatr vehicles will be equipped with CATL batteries, with CATL prioritizing cutting-edge technologies such as the chassis, which can withstand high-speed crashes at 120 km/h without fire hazards.

Avatr’s global expansion strategy is a critical pillar of its market goals. Wang Hui revealed that by 2030, the company plans to enter over 80 countries and establish more than 700 distribution channels.

This expansion will be supported by Changan’s global capabilities. He emphasized that after Changan’s global strategy launched in 2023, Changan now operates 21 global manufacturing bases in key regions such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. This global network, including the Rayong factory in Thailand, will provide support for Avatr’s internationalization.

At the press conference, Wang publicly appealed to Zhu Huarong, former Avatr Chairman and now Chairman of China Changan Automobile Group, for continued support. He stressed the importance of resources, talent, technology, and ecosystem development, reaffirming Changan’s earlier pledge of full backing for Avatr.

Avatr 07 2026 to boost market share

In addition to unveiling its strategic roadmap, Avatr introduced the upgraded Avatr 07 2026 model, priced between 219,900 and 269,900 yuan. As the first model under Avatr’s new strategy, the Avatr 07 2026 is set to play a pivotal role in boosting market share and enhancing brand visibility.

Key upgrades to the vehicle include the integration of Huawei’s latest intelligent driving assistance, featuring advanced 4D radar, and an upgraded smart cabin powered by Huawei’s cockpit system. The system boasts features such as a highly responsive voice assistant and seamless human-vehicle integration.

According to Jin, the system also shows impressive usage statistics, with over 240 million wake-up requests and 138 million voice navigation commands logged in just one month.

Since its launch, the Avatr 07 has achieved impressive sales, reaching 70,000 units in its first year. Data for 2025 H1 shows a near-doubling of sales, with 59,084 vehicles sold compared to 29,030 in the same period last year.

Founded in 2021 as a joint venture between Changan Automobile, Huawei, and CATL, Avatr builds its strategy around a collaborative ecosystem. Changan, now part of the newly established central SOE China Changan Automobile Group, is a leading automaker; Huawei is a major electronics giant; and CATL dominates the global battery market with a 38.1% share in the first five months of 2025, according to SNE Research.
