Chongqing - "Both ancient Egyptian and Chinese civilizations, cradled by their great rivers, have thrived for millennia without decline. The shared traits of hospitality, honesty, and trustworthiness among the peoples of both nations lay a solid emotional foundation for civilizational dialogue." During the Yangtze River Civilization Forum held in Chongqing, Professor Elsawy Elsawy Ahmed Abdelrahem from Benha University in Egypt gave an exclusive interview to iChongqing.
In the interview, he shared his reflections on the principle of "integrated coordination" in implementing large-scale projects in major river basins, drawing from the experience with the Nile. He also described the Yangtze River Civilization Forum as a high-level, multilateral platform for dialogue among the world's great river civilizations, emphasizing its great significance. Furthermore, he expressed the expectation of practical cooperation with China in the following areas in the future: cooperation in underwater archaeology and site preservation technology, water resource management and comprehensive river basin development, revitalization of cultural heritage and development of low-carbon tourism, as well as people-to-people exchanges and joint communication efforts.
