By XUELIN MU|Nov 05,2025

Chongqing - On October 28th, the China-Europe Cooperation and Prospects under the Belt and Road Initiative - China-Hungary Think Tank Experts Symposium was held at Southwest University of Political Science and Law.

During the symposium, scholars and experts from China and Hungary shared their insights on the achievements and outlook of China-Hungary cooperation, as well as the challenges faced.

Hungarian scholars and experts spoke highly of China’s development in green technology and products. Kitta Gergely said that without China, the EU would find it almost impossible to achieve green transformation. DR. Artner Annamária noted that Hungary has become the single largest European destination for greenfield Chinese foreign direct investment in recent years and that last year, China’s investment in Hungary increased by about 73% from the previous year. They hoped that Hungary and China would deepen their collaboration on green energy.

Apart from this, scholars and experts from both countries discussed cooperative opportunities in tourism, culture, academic cooperation, people-to-people exchanges and communication, and environmental protection, and touched upon topics like using limited resources to protect vulnerable groups and improve their quality of life, addressing demographic problems, and building a secure environment for investment.

Veisz Márton, Director of the Foreign Affairs Foundation for a Civic Hungary, noted that European economists are paying very close attention to China's 15th 5-Year plan, seeing what Europe's role can be and what opportunities Europe can seize from the plan.
