The European Academy of Sciences is an independent, non-profit academic institution based in Brussels, Belgium, bringing together leading scientists and engineers from across Europe to promote excellence in scientific research and technological innovation.

According to officials, the new center will promote China-Europe cooperation in biosensing, intelligent terminals, and advanced materials. These fields align with Chongqing's rapid development in electronic information, new materials, and smart device manufacturing, which have become major industrial pillars in western China.

Rodrigo Martins, President of the European Academy of Sciences and a professor at NOVA University Lisbon, said Chongqing's "strategic layout in the electronic information industry and its innovation ecosystem construction are remarkable." He described the center as a vital bridge for talent exchange and technological transformation between China and Europe.

At a government press briefing, Xie Liguo, Director of the Chongqing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, outlined the conference's outcomes, including meetings, talent recruitment, and competitions. He said Chongqing will continue advancing the implementation of newly signed platforms and projects while upgrading talent policies, development environments, and service systems.

The conference gathered 62 representatives from international organizations, scientists, scholars, and business leaders who shared insights on industry development and talent trends.

Thirteen new cooperation platforms were launched, including the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance Western China Center and the National Green Low-Carbon Industry Talent Development Center.

Notably, the Global Excellent Engineers Competition attracted 1,126 teams from 31 countries and helped solve 227 technical challenges for 113 companies. The "Xingyu Cup" International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition drew 779 participants from 10 countries, with nine scientific projects, including an injectable high-activity artificial bone material, now settling in Chongqing.

Furthermore, Chongqing organized joint recruitment events with Sichuan, Yunnan, and Xinjiang, offering 42,000 positions across 1,180 employers and resulting in 8,785 employment intentions. The city also hired 2,490 high-level and urgently needed professionals for universities, research institutes, and public hospitals. Twenty-seven recruitment events were held in Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities, attracting 13,800 young professionals.

To support youth retention, the city hosted its first "Chongqing: First Choice for Young Talent in Western China" week, featuring drone shows, concerts, and marathon events. Through its social security "one-card access" service, Chongqing provided transportation, lodging, and training benefits to 527,000 young participants.
