2026 CQMU Application Guide for International Students (Bachelor's Degree Programmes)

Ⅰ. Programmes

Ⅱ. Mode and Duration

1. Mode: Full-time

2. Duration: 4 to 6 years, for duration of a specificprogramme, please refer to the Chongqing Medical University 2026 Catalogue of Bachelor's Degree Programmes for International Students. (Appendix). Starting month: September.

Ⅳ. How to Apply

1. Applicants shall apply and check the admission information through the CQMU International Student Information Management System ((https://lxs.cqmu.edu.cn)).

2. Applicants for Chinese Government Scholarship Programmesshall submit applications simultaneously via both the CQMU International Student Information Management System and the "CSC Study in China" website (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login).

3. No paper documents are required at the application phase. For admitted students, the originals and the copies ofthe documents are required at the time of registration for verification and archival purposes. Documents uploaded ontothe systems at the application phase must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are advised to scan the documents using professional equipment, and are responsible for any consequences resulting from unclear or unidentifiable documents.

4. Application Deadline: Please submit the application before 17:00 pm, August 31, 2026(GMT+8).

Ⅴ. Eligibility

1. Status

  • Applicants must be citizens of a country other than the People's Republic of China, hold a valid passport or citizenship certificate from their own countries for more than 4 years (inclusive), and have a record of actual residence outside of China for more than 2 years within the recent 4 years (before April 30 of the year of admission). Note that actual residence outside of China for more than 9 months in a year may be counted as 1 year, based on the dates of the entry and exit stamp on the passport.
  • Applicants must be in good physical and mental health, have no record of bad behaviour, and abide by China's laws.

2. For bachelor'sdegree programme applicants

(1) Generally, applicants for bachelor'sdegree programmes shall be within the age range of 18 to 25.

(2) Applicants must have sufficient financial resources to support their studies and living in China.

(3) Applicants must have graduated from a high school or equivalent institution and be awarded a high school diploma or higher. Applicants must have chosen the science stream in their high school studies, which, besides Mathematics and Englishlanguage, should comprise pure science subjects like Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The admission criteria are detailed below:

A minimum average score of 70% in high school exit exam; or a minimum score of 150 in NEET

a. Native English speaker;

b. Applicants whose native language is not English must present an IELTS academic overall score of 6 or above, with a minimum score of 5 for every section of the test; or a TOEFL iBT score of 85 or above, with a minimum score of 15 for every section of the test; or Duolingo test 105.

c. Applicants who have been entirely taught in English during their high school studies may be exempted from submission of English proficiency test reports. Instead, they shall submit supporting documents issued by their alma mater, including a statement to certify that the applicants have received the entire high school education in English, and transcripts of the applicant's English language courses taken in the high school.

Be assessed by the admission interview panel for the applicant's English interview performance, a minimum score, 60 (out of 100), to pass.

A minimum total score of 700 in HSSC Pre-medical subjects (700/1100)

Iran

CGPA of 14 (14/20)

Sri Lanka

(1) Sri Lankan GCE Advance Level (AL): 2C's and 1S

(4) In general, the applicants should be graduating from high school in the current year of the intended university enrollment, with good academic and behaviourrecords at school.

(5) Under the same conditions, applicants to English-mediumprogrammes with an HSK certificate will be given preferential consideration.

(6) For international students under the age of 18 whose parent(s) are not ordinarily residing in China, the parent(s) must formally appoint a foreigner or a Chinese citizen who is ordinarily residing in China as the guardian for the international student, and provide supporting documents.

(7) Requirements for China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)

a. According to the requirements of the higher authorities, starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, all international students applying for Bachelor'sDegree Programmes are required to provide a valid CSCA transcript.

c. The deadline for submitting the transcript: August 31, 2026.

d. CSCA waslaunched on December 21st, 2025. Commencing in 2026, CSCA will transition into a regular operational phase, conducting five examination sessions annually in January, March, April, June, and December. For details about the CSCA , please log in website: https://csca.cn/home,the CSCA syllabus can be downloaded from the "Test Prep" section of this website.

3. For scholarship applicants

Applicants must meet the above-mentioned application requirements for a bachelor's degree programme. Scholarships are intended for outstanding students who need financial support.

3.1 Chinese Government Scholarship (Type A)  Bilateral Programme

(1) Applicants must complete the college preparatory coursesdesignated by China Scholarship Council and pass the exit exam.

(2) Applicants must meet the above-mentioned application requirements for a bachelor'sdegree programme, with their Chinese proficiency assessed by the exit exam of the college preparatory courses, and pass the CQMU admission interview.

(3) Coverage (RMB/year/person):

Tuition fee: 27,000

Accommodation fee: 8,400

Living expenses: 30,000

Insurance premium: 800

Total: 66,200

3.2 Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B)  "Silk Road" Programme

The Chongqing Medical University Admission Information for 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship "Silk Road" Programme will be released separately. Please stay tuned for further updates.

3.3 Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B)  "Ministry of Education-Chongqing Municipal People's Government Joint Scholarship for International Students" Programme

(1) This programme is limited to Chinese-mediumprogramme, and HSK level 5 or above is required.

(2) Applicants must be excellent in academic performances, personal achievements and comprehensive ability.

(3) The CQMU admission department will assess all the application documents and select the awardees.

(4) Coverage (RMB/year/person):

Tuition fee: 27,000

Accommodation fee: 8,400

Living expenses: 30,000

Insurance premium: 800

Total: 66,200

3.4 Chongqing Medical University Scholarship for Self-financed International Undergraduate Freshmen

(1) Applicants must be excellent inacademic performances, personal achievements and comprehensive ability.

(2) The CQMU admission department will assess all the application documents and select the awardees.It accounts for 30% of the total enrollment quota for that year. 

(3) Coverage (one-time):

15,000 RMB/person, funded for the first year of schooling.

Ⅵ. Application Documents

1. Passport (photocopied/scanned). At the time of registration, the passport must be valid for no less than 6 months. Otherwise, please renew it on time.

2. Acompleted application form (completed in the CQMU International Student Information Management System).

3. A copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Formcompleted in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicants). The form is formulated by the Chinese quarantine authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the photo or sealed photo of the applicants, the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, are invalid. The physical examination result is valid for only 6 months.

4. A non-criminal record. Applicants must provide a non-criminal record officially issued by the local police with a validity period of at least 6 months.

5. Proof of bank deposit (which must be no less than the full amount required for the first academic year).

6. Notarized high school graduation certificate, high school transcripts and good behaviourcertificate (photocopies/scans).

7. Applicants for a clinical medicine programme(English-medium) must provide a valid certificate for TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo score (photocopied/scanned).

8. Applicants for Chinese-medium programmesmust provide a valid certificate and transcript for HSK Level 5 or higher. The HSK Level 5 score is valid for two years (from the date of the examination).

9. The Mathematics and/or STEM Chinese transcriptof China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA).

10. Supplementary documents: publications, papers, certificates of honoursand awards, other relevant documents (photocopies/scans).

11. Documents required for scholarship application.

12. Applicants must not conceal their study experience in China. If the applicant is currently studying at a university in China, please upload the relevant proof materials.

Ⅶ. Admission

1. Applicants are to be admitted on the basis of competitive selection, e.their interview scores, academic performance, accomplishments, etc.

2. Applicants with a final interview score of below60 (out of 100) will be considered unqualified and will not be admitted.

3. Applicants who are found to have any of the following problems during the admission process will be considered unqualified and will not be admitted:

(1) Unqualified for application.

(2) In a physical condition that disqualifiesthem from admission.

(3) In other conditions that disqualify them from admission.

4. Chongqing Medical Universitywill strictly examine the documents submitted by applicants, preliminary examination, second examination (interview), admission and new student registration in accordance with national policies, and will reject those who are unqualified (including those who have obtained the application eligibility through forgery, deception, concealment or other fraudulent means, or who have applied due to negligence or misunderstanding). Applicants who are found to be in the above situations, no matter how far the process proceeds, will be immediately disqualified from application, second examination (interview), admission, registration, or be expelled.
