Chongqing - On January 30, 2026, during the "Member Passage" of the fourth session of the sixth Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), two members of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC shared insights on their industries and their contributions to the city's economic development.
Li Yao, a member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and executive vice president of Zonsen Industrial Group, spoke about the company's evolution alongside China's reform and opening-up policies. Founded in 1982, Zonsen has grown into a major player in the motorcycle industry, with production and sales ranking first in China.
Li highlighted the group's ambitious goals for the future, including doubling motorcycle production, sales, and profits by 2030. The company is also expanding into high-end motorcycles, electric motorcycles, and embodied AI, with international expansion efforts in Southeast Asia and beyond.
Zonsen's commitment to sustainable development includes the implementation of green technologies, such as converting motorcycles from gasoline to electric and developing hydrogen energy products. In 2025, the company's export value reached 21 billion yuan (about 3 billion U.S. dollars), a 18.8% increase from the previous year.
Li emphasized that Chongqing's motorcycle industry, known as the "Motorcycle Capital of China," plays a significant role in the global market, with the city accounting for over a third of China's motorcycle production and nearly 40% of its exports.
Liu Shuangyi, a member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and chairman of Chongqing CAS Supercap Technology, shared his company's progress in developing next-generation supercapacitor products, which have gained international recognition. Supercapacitors are key components in applications such as electric vehicles and smart grids.
Liu explained that the company's products stand out for their superior power capabilities, providing high-energy bursts over short periods, which makes them essential for industries requiring quick, high-power outputs. Liu also noted the company's growing international presence, with clients like Volvo, BMW, and Volkswagen.
