Chongqing Unveils New National Class A Esports Arena, Set to Open After Chinese New Year

By DENG, NAN|Feb 03,2026

Chongqing - A major new esports facility, the home venue for the Chongqing Wolves which belongs to Wolves eSports Club, has completed its main construction phase in the Bishan DreamSpace Digital Economy Industrial Park. Resembling a sleek spacecraft nestled beside Yuquan Lake, the arena marks a significant upgrade for the city's esports infrastructure.

According to the Bishan District Media Center, this purpose-built venue is the first in Chongqing to be constructed to the National Grade A Class 1 standard, as outlined in China's official "Specifications for the Operation and Service of E-Sports Venues." Covering a total floor area of 9,715.67 square meters, the arena boasts a capacity for over 2,000 spectators.

So, what sets a National Class A professional esports venue apart? Duan, a representative from the Chongqing Wolves Esports Club, explains that the key distinction lies in specialized design and function. "These venues are engineered to host national and international top-tier competitions," he said. "This requires integrated professional audio, lighting, and electronic systems, along with a specific spatial layout. For example, in the King Pro League (KPL), our athletes compete on mobile devices. Their gameplay is broadcast onto large screens for the audience. Therefore, the structure is more akin to a theater, centered around a major stage and screen complex."

The venue's main stage exceeds 300 square meters and is paired with a massive LED display wall covering more than 370 square meters. Renderings reveal a formidable setup, featuring two competition stages and a total of nine large screens, including two triple-screen arrays, all underscored by the team's motto, "Born Fearless, Fight to the End."

The spectator stands are arranged on three levels: 1,200 seats (including mechanical and movable seating) on the first tier, 480 fixed seats on the second, and 330 on the third, supplemented by four VIP boxes.

A key innovation is the venue's flexible design. "To maximize utility, the entire first-floor stage, competition pods, and seating are modular and removable," Duan added. "Once cleared, this frees up an additional 1,000 square meters of space." This adaptability enables the arena to host a wide range of events beyond esports, including concerts, anime conventions, minor sports competitions, and product launches. "Given Chongqing's push to become a hub for intelligent and new energy vehicles, and the concentration of such companies in Bishan, we specifically considered scenarios like new car unveilings. The cleared space can easily accommodate vehicles," Duan noted.

The completion comes as the Chongqing Wolves enjoy a strong start in the 2026 KPL Spring Season, currently positioned as top contenders in Group S. With fan anticipation building, the club confirms the venue is in its final stages of equipment installation, debugging, and landscaping. It is expected to open its doors to the public shortly after the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.
