By HUXIN LUO|Apr 15,2026

Chongqing — From April 9 to 12, a delegation of 106 American scholars, students, and descendants of the “Flying Tigers” visited Chongqing for an exchange program. Set against the backdrop of China-U.S. relations, the visit highlighted the growing importance of people-to-people exchanges and the city’s unique role in fostering bilateral ties.

During their stay, the delegation explored shared historical memories at the Chongqing Flying Tigers Museum and the Chongqing Stilwell Museum, revisiting the legacy of Claire Chennault and the Flying Tigers, who fought alongside the Chinese people during World War II.

Beyond history, Chongqing’s striking urban landscape and vibrant night views left a strong impression. Known as a “cyberpunk city,” its dramatic skyline has also drawn attention from international online personalities such as IShowSpeed.

The delegation also visited a Seres super factory, gaining firsthand insight into China’s rapidly developing new energy vehicle sector. Meanwhile, traditional cultural performances such as the Tongliang Dragon Dance highlighted the city’s rich heritage.

From history to modern industry, and from urban landscapes to cultural traditions, Chongqing offered the delegation a vivid window into contemporary China. Through on-the-ground experiences and direct engagement, participants developed a deeper sense of understanding and trust.

While the visit has concluded, the connections formed are just beginning, and such exchanges are expected to contribute to a more enduring foundation for China-U.S. relations.
