Chongqing - In the latest Global Vision, Bridging News spoke with Nguyen Thanh Trung, Director of the Saigon Center for International Studies Research at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City, who said growing political trust, deeper industrial cooperation and stronger regional connectivity are reshaping China-Vietnam relations amid global uncertainty.
He noted that bilateral ties are moving from broad diplomatic consensus toward more granular implementation, with railway standardization, industrial chain coordination and cross‑border connectivity becoming key priorities. Nguyen also pointed to Chongqing’s increasing role as a gateway for Vietnamese goods to reach western China, Central Asia and Europe via the New International Land‑Sea Trade Corridor.
As Vietnam and more broadly, ASEAN countries, pursue industrial upgrading and higher economic growth, he said deeper cooperation with China could help strengthen regional value chains and improve resilience against external economic shocks.
