Global Media Representatives Explore Chongqing's Smart EV and Healthcare Innovation In Liangjiang New Area

By HUXIN LUO|Jun 10,2026

Chongqing - The 5th CMG Forum kicked off in Chongqing. On this occasion, 34 international media representatives from 32 countries visited Liangjiang New Area on June 9 to learn about the city’s achievements in intelligent connected new energy vehicles and smart healthcare.

Under the theme “Upholding and Reshaping: The Media's Mission in the Intelligent Era,” this year’s forum brought together media representatives from various countries to discuss media transformation and responsibility in the intelligent era.

It marked the first time the forum was held in Chongqing. Before the forum opened, the representatives took part in field visits to gain a closer look at the city’s development momentum.

In recent years, Chongqing’s distinctive mountainous terrain, dazzling night views, and monorail trains passing through buildings have drawn wide attention on overseas social media. But beyond its strong “cybercity vibe,” Chongqing is also a major manufacturing hub in western China, with the automobile industry standing out as a key sector.

In 2025, Chongqing produced 2.788 million vehicles, regaining its position as China’s top automobile-producing city. The figure accounted for about 8.1% of China’s total vehicle output of 34.531 million units.

New energy and intelligent technologies have become the main drivers of Chongqing’s auto industry. In 2025, the city produced 1.296 million NEVs, up 36% year on year. Meanwhile, China’s first batch of Level 3 conditional autonomous driving vehicles has started road trials in designated areas of Chongqing.

Liangjiang New Area is an important base for Chongqing’s NEV manufacturing. Changan Automobile and Seres, two major automakers in Chongqing, both have operations in the district. The delegation’s first stop in the district was the Changan Global R&D Center.

In the exhibition hall of the center, several NEV models with futuristic designs drew the attention of the representatives. Many took photos and videos with their phones and cameras, got into the vehicles to experience them, and exchanged views on their design and configurations.

For Borjon Borakaj, Journalist of Vizion Plus in Albania, the visit to Changan offered an opportunity to gain deeper insight into China’s NEV market. He said the visit allowed him to learn more about electric vehicles, the Chinese market, and the efficiency, luxury, and durability of Chinese cars.

“For me, one of the models I have always loved was the Avatr 12,” Borakaj said. He added that it is a very good car and that the other models he saw at the center were also impressive. More importantly, he had also driven the Avatr 12 in his own country.

Borakaj said Chinese cars are now very popular in his country. Local consumers choose them because they are reasonably priced, efficient, well-equipped, durable on the road, and comfortable to drive.

He added that local consumers are increasingly fond of Chinese cars and are willing to further explore what China’s auto industry can achieve today.

After leaving Changan, the delegation visited Haifu Technology, also located in Liangjiang New Area, to learn about the company’s achievements in focused ultrasound therapy.

According to the introduction, Haifu Technology has long focused on ultrasound therapy. Its focused ultrasound ablation surgery works by concentrating ultrasound waves on targeted tissue inside the body, instantly generating high temperatures that cause irreversible necrosis of tumor cells. The treatment can be performed without surgery and is widely used in the treatment of gynecological diseases.

Haifu Technology has also applied ultrasound technology to massage products and developed an ultrasound joint massager. The product caught the attention of Sergio Chavarria, Managing Editor of El Financiero in Costa Rica.

After trying the product, Chavarria said he could clearly feel warm in the massaged area. He said his arm had suffered some strain from long-term work and that he hoped the product could help relieve the discomfort and provide some therapeutic benefits.
