The large-scale stage production Chongqing 1949 has recently drawn attention on overseas social media. A TikTok video posted by @guan.xiaosong opens with the simple line, “It’s just a show,” then reveals visually striking stage scenes that quickly catch viewers’ attention. For many overseas audiences, the production is more than a theatrical spectacle — it also brings a chapter of Chongqing’s history vividly to life on stage.
