Chongqing - What comes to mind when you think of Chongqing? A modern megacity? An "8D magical city"? A cyberpunk city? Or something else? But did you know that Chongqing is also home to a profound culture?

On Sept.22, the 2026 Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor Premium Tourism Routes — "City of Heroes · Red Memory" Themed Promotion Event was held in Chongqing. Attended by cultural and tourism administrations from Chongqing and Sichuan, representatives from districts and counties along the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor, and major cultural and tourism enterprises, the event aimed to integrate red cultural resources and advance the coordinated development of red culture and tourism.

At the promotion event, Chongqing and Sichuan presented their rich red cultural and tourism resources to the audience. In Chongqing, for instance, the Jianchuan Museum and the 166 Guided-Missile Destroyer in Jiulongpo District are ideal for educational travel, while Gele Mountain in Shapingba District embodies the resolute, resilient, and optimistic spirit of the Chongqing people.  In Sichuan, Guang’an is the birthplace of China's late leader Deng Xiaoping; Huaying Mountain unfolds the “Red Legends”.

In recent years, Chongqing and Sichuan have advanced the building of the Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor. Staying committed to protecting, passing on, and making good use of red cultural resources, both regions have continuously innovated the supply of red tourism products, cleverly blending profound history with study-tour experiences, the lively rhythms of everyday life, and trendy consumer experiences.

Meanwhile, eight other travel routes were also introduced, featuring the city, the Yangtze River, the Three Gorges, Dazu Rock Carvings, Diaoyu Fortress, natural wonders such as Wulong Karst National Park, Fairy Mountain, and Jinfo Mountain, as well as Wujiang Gallery and ancient towns with a long history.
