Driver Assistance in Chongqing Traffic: CHANGAN NEVO Pairs Deliveries With Road Tests

By JUNXIANG ZENG|Oct 31,2026

Chongqing - CHANGAN NEVO recently paired Q06 customer deliveries in Chongqing with hands-on driving experiences, taking participants from closed-course exercises to city roads. Driving tests and interactive activities let them explore the vehicle’s technology and features in different settings.

Urban traffic tests more than technical specifications

The event was part of the brand’s “ten-thousand-person delivery season,” a multi-city campaign launched in Changsha on Oct. 17. It pairs vehicle handovers with demonstrations and hands-on experiences. In Chongqing, driving tests and interactive activities let participants explore the vehicle beyond the delivery ceremony.

The issue extends beyond a single road test. As advanced driver-assistance features become more widely available, consumers need ways to understand what these systems actually do, not just what manufacturers' specifications promise.

The driving program progressed from closed-course exercises to urban roads, where mixed traffic involving pedestrians, electric bikes and vehicles cutting in presented more complex challenges.

These scenarios raise questions that hardware specifications alone cannot answer: How does a system respond when traffic patterns change? Can it make appropriate decisions around other road users? And how much should a driver rely on its assistance?

To address these challenges, a CHANGAN NEVO technical representative explained that the CHANGAN SDA Pilot system combines LiDAR and multiple sensors with a one-stage end-to-end model. According to the representative, it is designed to respond smoothly to slowing traffic, anticipate vehicles cutting in at close range, and react to pedestrians or riders suddenly crossing its path.

Parking assistance provided another practical example. A test-drive instructor explained how selecting a parking location on the vehicle's screen generates a virtual parking space, allowing the driver to activate automated parking.

For more challenging situations, such as tight parallel parking or dead-end roads, the instructor also described how the vehicle can use a recorded route to reverse along its original path.

These functions offer assistance in specific driving situations, while drivers remain responsible for supervising the vehicle.

From everyday functions to long-term brand trust

Alongside the driving sessions, interactive activities gave participants opportunities to explore the vehicle's in-car technology and practical features. A timed voice-command challenge tested the cabin system's ability to recognize consecutive instructions, while other activities showcased storage features and their potential uses in everyday life.

Feedback from participants also pointed to a consideration beyond the immediate driving experience: confidence in a vehicle is linked to trust in the company's long-term development. For some, CHANGAN's status as a central state-owned enterprise factored into that consideration.

As the Q06 "ten-thousand-person delivery season" continues across multiple cities, the Chongqing event shows how vehicle handovers can be combined with opportunities to examine new technology firsthand. For consumers, understanding what driver-assistance systems can do and where their limits lie is key to assessing their role in everyday driving.
