The Foreigners Street Coffee
By Keqiao Cheng, iChongqing News
Chongqing - What can an old factory plant be after the whole industry moved out? Now, you may find the answer at the Foreigners’ Street Coffee. This Friday, February 1, this 1990s industrial-style cafe opened at Mexin Wine Plaza, Yubei District. Also, here you can find a bar made of industrial conveyor, or a table made of old machines.
Also, elements of the old factory are everywhere at this place.
This place was a manufacturing base of doors. However, all the old articles here have been converted to new items of the coffee shop. “It’s totally a surprise to find these old articles here.” Said Ms. Zhou, one of the first customers of the Foreigners’ Street Coffee. She was actually shopping at the wine shops nearby, and when seeing this newly opened cafe, she decided to give a try.
The interior of the cafe
According to the staff, this industrial-style cafe covers more than 200 square meters. Besides this, there are 13 private rooms made of concrete sewer pipes. Moreover, each of the pipes weighs 8 tons.
Actually, in this modern and creative space, a few old machines are still kept. You can even find images of gears or pliers on the walls, which will remind you once it was a factory.
