The urban greening on retaining walls nearby Yangjiaping

Chongqing - Yangjiaping Commercial Area planted 85,000 plant pots at the nearby roads, thus generating a spring-like circuit and catching the eyes of many citizens. Moreover, not a single pot grows on the ground, but all of them are on the retaining walls along the road.

1,200 square meters of green space

The vertical planting on the retaining walls of Tuanjie Road aims to create a 1,200-square-meter green space.

Plants here seem to be the brushes, sketching a multi-level landscape scroll on the wall. There is the forest (trunks), dark clouds (leaves of rubber trees), multi-peaked mountains (landscape stones), and rivers (lines).

But how do these plants grow on the walls? Actually, the vertical planting adopts the design of independent slots. Each, like a flowerpot, is fixed on the wall to grow plants. Additionally, there are conduits and aquifers inside each slot for independent cultivation, to prolong the life of plants.

In addition to the decorative function, the vertical planting also plays the role of an air cleaner. Situated on both sides of the roads with heavy traffic, this project has an excellent effect of dust prevention.

Different plants in four seasons

Colors of the plants are various.

So, how to conserve these plants on the walls? As the project stands on the two sides of the roads, artificial watering will definitely block the traffic.

To solve this problem, the project has designed guiding gutters and an intelligent watering system. The gutter collects the water, and discharges it into the pipe network of the city, without any impacts on the road surface.

In the meantime, there are conduits for infiltrating in each slot. Therefore, the intelligent watering system, through the magnetic valve, can control the sprinkling time and amount. In this way, the project can realize timing control and fixed-point watering.

What's more, the plants will also change according to different seasons, to create a landscape effect of shifting seasons.
