As we have known from TV or book, Along the River during the Qingming Festival is a national treasure-class masterpiece. However, have you seen any imitation embroidered stitch after stitch? Mrs. Yuan, a lady in her 70s, has embroidered the cross-stitch work and represented this huge artwork after 13 years of painstaking work.
The whole work has 18m long
In her housing estate, seven to eight neighbors were standing in line to show the 18-meter-long artwork completely. According to Mrs. Yuan, the work has over 1.9 million accumulative stitches and displays over 800 figures in various gestures. In addition, there are also domestic animals like cows and donkeys. Moreover, the houses, ships, bridges, sedan chairs, and other elements are also remarkably true to life.

Along the River during the Qingming Festival is the immortal masterpiece of Zhang Zeduan, a well-known painter. He lived in the Northern Song Dynasty (960 A.D.–1127A.D.). And the Palace Museum in Beijing has collected this national treasure-class cultural relic.

The authentic work is 24.8 centimeters wide and 528.7 centimeters long and of ink and pigment on silk. In the form of a long scroll and the picture-composition mode of cavalier perspective, it has lively recorded the life scenes. They are about the living conditions of people in different classes and the urban appearance of Dongjing. Also known as Bianjing, it is the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty(AD.960—1127) and located at today’s Kaifeng, Henan Province. The masterpiece serves as evidence of the prosperous life of Bianjing and the economic conditions of cities at that time.
