Overseas Students Learn to Cook Xiao Mian with a Certificate to Get

Xiao Mian (Chongqing Noodles), Hot Pot, and Street Cuisine (Jianghu Cuisine) - such delicious foods have earned Chongqing a widespread reputation. A number of overseas students, therefore, love not only eating Chongqing delicacies but also making them. On March 31, the Unveiling Ceremony of Bashu Cuisine International Communication Center & Bashu Culinary Skills Exchange Center kicked off. Ten overseas students from various countries began their training in making Chongqing delicacies from Xiao Mian at Chongqing Bashu Vocational School.

After careful study, students started to imitate the teacher’s movements, such as igniting, boiling and making the dressing. Under the help of the teaching assistant, they began practicing it themselves.

“I am really a Xiao Mian lover.” Steven from Indonesia said it is his favorite for breakfast. As a result, he hopes to learn how to make authentic local foods from the professional teacher. Besides satisfying his appetite anytime, he can also share with his families and friends.

Ehab from Palestine is very partial to all kinds of cooked wheaten foods of Chongqing, including Xiao Mian, Baozi (steamed Chinese meat buns) and dumplings. With the teacher’s assistance, he succeeded in making the dressing of Xiao Mian for the first time. When the “international” Xiao Mian was ready after a while, he had a taste with a thumbs-up.
