More than 10,000 runners enjoyed running along the picturesque track in the 2019 Bishan International Half Marathon in drizzling rain on April 14, 2019. The rain didn’t stop neither did the runners.
On April 14, more than 10,000 runners took part in the 2019 Bishan International Half Marathon in drizzling rain
The Chinese Athletic Association (abbreviated as CAA below), Chongqing Sports Bureau and People’s Municipal Government of Bishan District sponsored the race. This year’s public-welfare marathon was upgraded to a Class A2 (co-held by CAA) from Class B (registered in CAA) in 2018. As a result, the race attracted more than 100,000 runners from ten countries including China, the US, Britain, Italy, Poland, Ethiopia and Kenya.
Officials divided the race into two parts. The half marathon (21.0975 km) included individual and team competitions and the mini-marathon (about 7.5 km) which involved individuals and families.
In terms of the award setting, on the basis of the men’s and women’s, age group’s and the team’s competition ranking, awards for Chongqing citizens and the men’s and women’s record-breaking were also added, with a total bonus of RMB 140,000.
After an intense competition, the winners of the men’s and women’s individual competitions were from Kenya and Ethiopia respectively.
