Chongqing- The new energy vehicle (NEV) has become the most talked-about issue of global concern. Some might raise questions: What is the trend for the NEV industry? How to improve NEV’s range and safety performance? Will there be any new preferential policies for buying cars? At the upcoming Second Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) on May 16, 2019, the China (Chongqing) International Cooperation Forum on New Energy Vehicle Industry , one of the activities of WCIFIT, jointly sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and Lombardy Regional Government fromItaly, will welcome more than 200 global leading enterprise representatives and top executives in the NEV industry to exchange and share their ideas.

The Forum will invite such institutions as Regional Government of Lombardy, Italy, Italian Association of the Automotive Industry (ANFIA), Association for Industrial Design (ADI) and German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association. It will provide industry insiders with the latest information and technology development in the NEV industry.

The Forum, themed with “strengthening international exchange and cooperation in the electric vehicle industry”, aims to promote international investment and technical cooperation in Chongqing’s NEV industry by targeting on the releasing and sharing of national future industrial policies, foreign advanced experience, and cutting-edge technologies.

Participants in this event include various players in the NEV industry, from governmental agencies, vehicle-related industrial associations, universities and research institutions, China’s NEV operators, distributors, operators of battery swap stations , online car-hailing platforms, to global OEMs (involving passenger vehicles, logistics vehicles and coaches), core parts manufacturers and supporting enterprises.

NEV and the intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) play a key role in driving the transformation and upgrading of the auto industry. As an important auto industry base, Chongqing possesses huge potential for future development at the critical period of transformation and upgrading and innovative development in the industry.

Chongqing intends to formulate a policy system to accelerate the NEV and ICV industry by focusing on the three key links of research and development (R&D) capability, industrial ecology and industrial manufacturing. Following this development path, combined with innovation, quality improvement, integration, sharing and coordination, will achieve remarkable results in the transformation and upgrading of the auto industry in Chongqing by 2022 as well as help it to become an important R&D and manufacturing base for the NEV and ICV industry in China.
