Laughter in Bayu Artistic Performance of China Quyi (traditional art forms) Performance Venues Collaborative Development Alliance (Artistic Performance) debuted on May 18 at Bayu Shuchang of Shapingba Cultural Center. Two performances per month—it is expected to provide 10 cultural feasts for Chongqing people for five months.

Sponsors of the Artistic Performance include the China Quyi Performance Venues Collaborative Development Alliance (the Alliance), the Chongqing Quyi Artists Association, the Publicity Department of Shapingba District, Culture and Tourism Development Committee of Shapingba District, and Shapingba Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Undertakers comprise Shapingba Cultural Center and Chongqing Doulefang Cultural Communication Co., Ltd.

Laughter in Bayu will gather nationwide Quyi artists in Chongqing, presenting exquisite performances to people here

Including special performances like Wuxi Quyi, Nan Qiang Bei Diao, Crosstalk in Southwestern China and Chongqing Quyi, these 10 performances boast varied styles that reflect strong local features.

The first day (May 18) will see a Theater Development Seminar at Bayu Shuchang, inviting Quyi artists all across the country to exchange ideas about relevant topics.

Actually, this Artistic Performance is a gift for the 70th birthday of New China. In addition, sponsors strive to build a platform for Quyi theaters nationwide to communicate, demonstrate and learn from each other, while enriching the spiritual and cultural life of Chongqing people. More ambitiously, they plan to improve the cultural environment in Shapingba District, build Bayu Shuchang into a nationally influential theater, and develop Laughter in Bayu into a widely-recognized Quyi performance brand.

“It is Bayu Shuchang and Doulefang that allow the Artistic Performance to come into reality.” In February 2019, Doulefang, as a private Chongqing crosstalk group, was elected as the executive director unit of the Alliance. And it played a significant role in promoting communication between southern and northern styles of Quyi during this Artistic Performance.
