Chongqing- China (Chongqing) New Energy, one of the themes of the 2nd Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT), kicked off at Wudu Hotel on the afternoon of May 16.

More than 200 domestic and foreign guests gathered together, including Irene Pivetti, Former President of Italian Chamber of Deputies, Giorgio Gamberini, President of Italdesign-Giugiaro China of Volkswagen AG, and Marcello Bariani, Vice President in Asia Pacific Region of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV. All of them shared their ideas and information about enhancing international exchange and cooperation in the industry of new energy vehicles (NEVs).

This international summit saw the attendance of senior executives from over 40 world-renowned enterprises including such Fortune Global 500 enterprises as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Zoppas Industries, and Italdesign-Giugiaro, as well as main Chinese companies in the industry including Chang’an Automobile, Geely Automobile, Dubike, CATL, Chongqing Data Technology and Chongqing Gaotong Automotive Technology.

According to Giorgio Gamberini’s Automotive Engineering and Design in the Era of New Energy, the renovation of energy technology as well as lightweight low wind resistance technology is also an effective method for energy conservation and emission reduction.

Zhao Weihua, Executive Vice President of Karry New Energy Vehicles of Chery Group, themed Development Trend and Measures of Chinese New Energy Vehicles, connected with the people there. Combined with changes of data last year with regards the sales of gasoline cars decreasing and electric ones increasing, he predicted that this industry would see explosive growth of consumption of NEVs.

Chongqing, as an important base for the Chinese auto industry, is concentrating its efforts to advance the development of NEVs and intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). It strives to develop into a key national R&D and manufacturing base for NEVs and ICVs by 2022, so as to facilitate the transformation and upgrading of the auto industry.

To achieve this goal, Chongqing will put the focus on Liangjiang New Area and Yubei District to establish a western international cooperation demonstration zone and an industrial cluster of NEVs.
