On May 28, the Belt and Road International Skills Competition (BRISC) was officially opened in Chongqing International Expo Center. Among the 18 competing items, Floristry is one of the most ornamental, attracting numerous spectators to Hall S1 in Chongqing International Expo Center.

The ingenious contestants put together the flowers, branches, and leaves into pieces of exquisite works by contestants. The Floristry project involved players from 6 countries and regions, and each of them competed in their own separate spaces without influencing each other.

The bouquet making part of this project was held on the morning of May 28. All the spaces provided the same flower materials, and players selected the ones they need to design their own artworks. Every player attracted lots of spectators, among which Odric Honfer, a French, was the most popular, with many spectators taking photos while watching his creating process.

“I will do my best,” said Odric Honfer, who hoped to make great progress in the competition. He chose a disk-shaped container for the bouquet and sprinkled some petals in it for embellishment at last.

Quite a few spectators on the spot wondered why there were more male contestants than female ones in the Floristry project. “Male players are also ingenious in Floristry,” said Zhu Yingying, the chief referee of this project and the leader of China technical expert team of the Floristry project in the 45th WorldSkills Competition (WSC). Specifically, male players have stronger psychological endurance to cope with different challenges more flexible.

Besides, they have a physical advantage. The WSC Floristry project lasts for four days with 9 modules, and the required time is 20 hours in total. The competing time for some parts will be 3 hours. Therefore, adequate physical strength is essential.

Zhu Yingying introduced that the BRISC Floristry project comprised four wonderful modules of making the bouquet, cut flower decoration, bridal bouquet, and surprise box, and all the parts were all worth watching.
