In the exhibition hall of Ubtech Chongqing, Cruz is capable of interacting with humans — singing, dancing, chatting, making jokes, answering questions with profound knowledge, and more.
According to the maker, Cruz comes with a maneuverable body with the degree of freedom (DOF) of 15 and two arms with the DOF of 12, allowing it to look and move like humans. It also boasts omnidirectional mute wheels that will enable it to turn 360-degrees in an instant. Cruz enables multisensory integration, featuring words, voice, vision, action, and contextual interactions.
Cruz can be widely used in retail, transportation, political affairs, exhibitions, education, finance, and many other sectors. Currently, Cruz has had a place in Chongqing People’s Primary School (Liangjiang New Area) and Easyhome, providing services such as reception, guiding intelligent introduction, and Q&A.
In January, Ubtech launched its first district-level AI robot laboratory project. By equipping 86 AI education labs for primary and junior high schools, it plans to develop robot-based education and popularize STEM education across China. What’s more, it rolled out a Service Robot Cruz-based Smart Schooling Plan to build an intelligent learning environment and develop AI talents.
Ubtech expects an annual yield for Cruz of more than 10,000, and that may surge to 30,000 in the future in responding to market demand.
Robot Cruz is a phased achievement from a cooperative agreement in September 2018 between Chongqing municipal government and Ubtech Robotics. Ubtech Chongqing is the company’s center in Chongqing and southwest China for the R&D, manufacturing and sales of core components and Cruz, the cloud-based intelligent commercial service robot, revealed Wang Yong.
According to an insider, Ubtech Chongqing also plans to present a new retail scenario of Cruz on the SCE this year. For example, the audience may purchase drinks viaCruz in a process from “greeting guests to product introduction, inquiry, ordering, and paying.”
