Officially formed in the last years of the Ming Dynasty, Jielong Chuida is a kind of folk music widely seen in Jielong Town, Ba’nan District, Chongqing.

Jielong Chuida features a wide variety of music, a large number of performers and asynchronous development of theoretical research and artistic practice. As a result, it stands out from Bayu Chuida. Its types are wind and percussion instrument playing, gong and drum performance, as well as wind and percussion instrument playing and singing. It includes 7 kinds of music (Yaxi Tune, Xiahe Tune, Qingshan Tune, Kun Ci, Jiaoyi Tune, General Gong, and Drum, Dancing Gong and Drum) with nearly 1,000 pieces of music, over 260 existing teams and nearly 2,000 performers.

In May 2006, the State Council of the P.R.C. approved listing Chuida (Jielong Chuida) among the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage.
