Chongqing - On the evening of October 16, the 2019 Chongqing International (China-U.S.) Youth Basketball Friendship Games kicked off at Chongqing Gymnasium. This game was organized by Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, Administration of Sports of Chongqing, and Sino-American Friendship Association. Since it was a public basketball game, it was open to citizens and visitors. After an hour and a half of intense competition, the Chaminade College Preparatory High School basketball team won the game. At the end of the game, leaders of the Administration of Sports of Chongqing and Sino-American Friendship Association issued each player from both China and the United States a commemorative medal.

Two teams of the basketball friendship game are the Chongqing High School United team and Chaminade College Preparatory High School from the United States. Chaminade College Preparatory High School is an internationally renowned Blue Ribbon High School that has trained many elite graduates. The school was once a California champion team, ranked among the top high school basketball teams in California, with all players are honorary students. Moreover, there are two Division 1 players on the American side.

In addition, the Chaminade College Preparatory High School team will also participate in other basketball games with high schools in Chongqing. “We know that we’ll get together as a team, so we’re good and just focus on the next game, the same as what we did for this game," said Kenneth Simpson Jr., the No. 2 player of the American team.

This is the first basketball friendship game for the American team during their trip to Chongqing

They will also attend some cultural and tourist activities to tighten the friendship with young people here.

This game deepened the friendship among young people between Chongqing and U.S.

Meanwhile, as one of the three major broadcasters in the United States, ABC News had also reported this game and their trip to Chongqing. The news will be publicized on American television, overseas social media platforms. This international basketball friendship game attracts many basketball fans and parents' eyes, therefore, promoting the communication and exchanges between China and the U.S. "It's great visiting the city today. It's good for our team to visit another culture," said Keith Higgins Jr., the No. 3 player of the American team.
