Approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport will increase its peak hourly capacity from 49 to 54 sorties.

This increase will create favorable conditions for transport capacity growth. The flights of the Airport will be increased gradually, with some 100 sorties being added and total flights maintaining 1,000 sorties per day.

The hourly capacity is the number of aircraft movements an airport can handle within an hour, which is evaluated and determined by the relevant civil aviation department considering all factors. It is directly associated with the route arrangement, thus determining the maximum capacity of an airport.

According to the goal of building Chongqing into an international aviation hub in Chongqing International Aviation Hub Strategic Plan, by 2025, the total annual passenger throughput will reach 75 million, among which the annual passenger throughput of international/regional routes bound for over 80 cities will reach 10 million, with the annual cargo throughput exceeding 800,000 tons.
