On the afternoon of December 12, the International Cultural Festival of Chongqing Jiaotong University started in Qiushi Square. This is the first cultural event of the university, attracting many international students and local students.

More than 200 international students, from 12 countries or regions, such as France, Thailand, Togo, Tanzania, etc., had taken part in the event. Meanwhile, they had brought very local elements, like food, clothing, musical, or dance, to Chongqing. In order to let us know more about their culture, some students had contacted the embassy to borrow clothing or musical instruments to their stands. Moreover, some students cooked food there with ingredients and condiments, which were posted from their countries. The cultural event is also the epitome of campus life.

Overseas students can learn more about Chinese culture through the event, the image is an international student with a Chinese drum

This is the first international culture event of Chongqing Jiaotong University and it is am an important way for Chinese and overseas students to present and exchange ideas and cultures. Additionally, it is also a crucial way to strengthen the communication of Chinese and overseas students here in this university, therefore, promoting a harmonious campus culture.

At present, Chongqing Jiaotong University aims to achieve internationalization to develop the university as a world-class one. Moreover, the university also regards the interconnection between Chinese and foreign culture as the mainline of cross-cultural exchanges to guide the campus culture. Thus, the university is going to help international students to understand and experience Chinese culture in both academic education and daily life.

For the next step, Chongqing Jiaotong University will establish the brand of the International Cultural Festival to promote the university’s cross-cultural communication. 

Besides, the university awarded the China-Africa Friendship Award and the Outstanding Contribution Award of Chongqing Jiaotong University on the occasion.
