33 municipal night market blocks become the must-visit for late sleepers

Data from Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce show that, as of now, the city has built 33 night-market blocks, including Jiaochangkou Night Market in Yuzhong District, Likely Wharf Night Market in Jiangbei District, Zhongjiao Lijing Night Market in Dadukou District, Jinhui Tongyuan Avenue Night Market in Nan’an District and South Garden Night Market in Jiulongpo District.

A batch of night market blocks is forming in Chongqing. They feature industrial, operational, and cultural characteristics, standardized management, beautiful environment, multiple functions, and various business types, which make them the must-visit for late sleepers.

To build the “Best Chongqing” branded nighttime economy cluster

According to the introduction from Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, the Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Accelerating the Development of Circulation and Promoting Commercial Consumption put forward higher requests for the nighttime economy development.

Next, Chongqing will take four measures centering on the construction of an international consumption center city to promote the city’s nighttime economy development to a higher level.

First, Chongqing is slated to enrich the connotation of the nighttime economy. It’s going to expand the consumption space of commercial complexes and other places, enhance nighttime business types, and create experience-oriented areas for nighttime consumption.

Second, Chongqing plans to strengthen the planning and layout of the nighttime economy. It aims to form a coordinated development pattern, with the nighttime economy in the main urban area as the core, with that in regional central cities as the focus and with the featured nighttime economy in districts/counties as the complement. Besides, it will create a number of different types of night market blocks, which are characteristic, professional, or entrepreneurship-oriented.

Third, Chongqing intends to improve related policies and measures of the nighttime economy further. Based on learning the advanced experience of developing the nighttime economy from sister provinces and cities and foreign countries, it will also increase the support of the nighttime economy and optimize the business environment.

Last, the city is going to promote industrial upgrading of the nighttime economy. Based on the current scale of its nighttime economy, Chongqing plans to improve the development quality of the nighttime economy, construct the “Best Chongqing” branded nighttime economy cluster and build the calling card of its nighttime economy by further utilizing the landscape resources and historic & cultural resources of the Two Rivers and Four Riversides.
