The aim to build smart parks is to develop information technologies and intelligent applications in industrial parks to improve industrial agglomeration capacity, sustainable and innovative development, regional collaborative development and enterprise competitiveness, through integrating resources inside and outside parks to create network infrastructure, fine management, professional services, and intelligent industry development.

“Building smart parks has become a major task in promoting the transformation and development of Chongqing’s industrial parks,” said a person in charge of Chongqing Economy and Information Commission. Chongqing’s industrial parks have gathered over 80% of its entire industrial economy since its establishment in 2002, becoming the city’s economic development platform and the most dynamic areas.

In an effort to transform industrial parks into smart parks, Chongqing will first upgrade the information infrastructure of industrial parks and encourage qualified parks to pilot 5G network applications.

In terms of building platform systems in smart parks, the city will build a unified management platform for connecting the city and smart parks by using the Internet, Internet of Things (IoT), and other technologies. Additionally, other items are included, such as promoting industrial intelligence in parks and fostering pilot demonstration projects in smart parks.

In order to ensure the implementation of standards for building smart parks, last year, Chongqing Economy and Information Commission issued the Evaluation Standard for Chongqing Smart Park (Tentative), which clearly defined the construction objectives, contents, and unified identification of evaluation standards for smart parks. There are six evaluation indexes, including infrastructure, park management, park service, industrial intelligence, guarantee system and platform interface, and three levels for assessing smart parks.
