Chongqing - January 10th marked the opening of the Chongqing Two Sessions, one of the most important annual political meetings in Chongqing ahead of the national Two Sessions, which would be held in March this year. The Chongqing Two Sessions started from January 10^th and will last until January 15^th.

Early in the morning, delegates, officials, as well as media entered the Chongqing Great Hall of the People, where official speeches, press conferences, policy announcements, sideline comments, and personnel positioning and actions will be carried out in the following days. Anticipation and excitement were in the air, and people were spotting signals.

The Changing Two sessions are ahead of the national two sessions meeting. It is a meeting in the Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress, Chongqing’s top legislative body, and the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chongqing’s top advisory body. And it is these two meetings that are referred to as Two Sessions.

During the Chongqing Two Sessions, people will get to know more about how the economy is developing, new priority programs and projects in the city, new policies, and plans for Chongqing’s future development.

2020 is a great year, with lots of goals and targets to achieve. Most notably, winning the tough battle against poverty as China aims to eradicate poverty by 2020 and building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects. The highlights of the Chongqing Two Sessions are expected to be centered around poverty alleviation, opening – up in inland China, urban improvement, an important city of smart manufacturing, issues closely related to people’s lives.

Chongqing plays an important part in China’s overall development, Chongqing will act as a significant drive in boosting the growth of China's western region in the new era, play a leading role in promoting the joint construction of the Belt and Road, and become a model in advancing green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
