Building a nationwide influential science and technology (S/T) innovation center is a priority during the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. How to improve the Chengdu-Chongqing region’s capability of collaborative innovation and development? Recently, Chongqing proposed that concerted efforts should fix on upgrading S/T innovation platforms, pooling related resource elements, powering the tackling of core technologies and achievement transfer, and deepening international S/T communication and cooperation. Liangjiang New Area is the first national new area for development and opening-up in inland China and the leader of economic growth in Chongqing. It vigorously implements the action plan on innovation-driven development strategy led by big data intelligence, accelerates the construction of the national innovation demonstration zone and the national pilot zone for digital economy innovation, and develops the three innovation platforms, which are Lijia Intelligent Park, Liangjiang New Area’s Digital Economy Industrial Park, and Liangjiang Collaborative Innovation Zone. As a result, Liangjiang New Area can create sound innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems. Li Jie, Director of Liangjiang New Area Science and Technology Innovation Bureau, said Liangjiang New Area had rich innovation resources and became increasingly active in this sphere.

Chengdu and Chongqing will also enhance industrial coordinated development and innovation resource sharing. They plan to introduce regional headquarters of international companies, share industrial and supply chains, and build world-class industrial clusters valuing trillions of yuan. Chongqing Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone will welcome an AI City

With the total investment of 20 billion yuan, an AI City is rising in Chongqing Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone. The Video Connection Commencement Ceremony for Chongqing 2020 First Batch of New Infrastructure Projects was held recently, during which Everbright AI Industrial Base, a new infrastructure project located in the Chongqing Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, attracted wide attention for the highest investment and its hi-tech elements.

Differing from traditional infrastructure, this project will build a real AI City, establishing a benchmark for the smart industry and becoming a new infrastructure demonstrator for Chongqing to grow into a city of innovation.
