Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport: The Only Winner of China's Most Efficient Award for Airport Services 2019

CAPSE (Civil Aviation Passenger Service Evaluation), an authoritative civil aviation service evaluation institute of China, announced the sixth Aviation Services Awards on April 27. Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport was honored with China’s Most Efficient Award for Airport Services 2019 among Annual Passenger Volume of over 40 Million, the only winner of this category.

The Airport’s profitability in passenger service, baggage transport, cargo traffic, and on-time percentage of flights helped it rise to the top.

The Airport continuously explores service potentials and optimizes service details by taking passengers’ demand into account. For instance, it has established baggage placement standards and issued such measures as cleaning before unloading baggage and holding baggage when they slide into the baggage reclaim turntable. It set up a mechanism to test and inspect the baggage reclaim efficiency, offered more detailed information about baggage on screens to customers, and creatively launched a baggage delivery service. Passengers living in the main urban areas can receive their baggage within one to four hours. As a result, it created an airport-centered multi-direction radiation network. Also, the Airport enhanced the role of science and technology in service management. It completed the construction of an RFID-based (Radio Frequency Identification) pilot project that follows baggage of some flights during the entire journey. Through tracking the baggage at check-in, security inspection, sorting, incoming inspection, and other key steps, the Airport effectively improves the quality of baggage transport.

Meanwhile, to better serve resident units, the airport creatively built an airport comprehensive service center, which integrates document handling, processing of construction permits, external charge, and other business. It has optimized handling procedures and offers convenient one-stop services, significantly upgrading the management efficiency and comprehensive service capability.

CAPSE Aviation Services Awards were initiated and sponsored by CAPSE, with a brand mission statement: improve the passenger experience through active listening. Since the founding in 2014, it has been successfully held six sessions. In 2019, 2.4 million passengers gave their authentic evaluations on 324 airlines, 1,103 airports, and 29,119 flights. CAPSE data research group then carried out a multi-dimensional comprehensive evaluation to select winners of Aviation Services Awards.
