To pursue the coordinated development of manufacturing under the framework of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the auto industry is a key focus of effort. On June 29, Sichuan's and Chongqing's economy and information authorities held in Chengdu an activity to deepen cooperation and alignment between Sichuan and Chongqing in the auto industry. In the future, the two places will carry out cooperation in diverse aspects such as enhancing cooperation in stronger support capacities of the auto industry and accelerating agglomeration of emerging industries, to build the auto industry cluster together.

Chang'an Automobile Manufacturing Base

In 2019, a total of 1.117 million cars were made in Sichuan, generating a revenue of nearly 300 billion yuan, and 1.38 million cars were manufactured in Chongqing, generating a revenue of 322.7 billion yuan. Although Chengdu and Chongqing have built an auto industry cluster with national influence and a complete industry ecosystem, there is still a gap compared with other auto industry clusters at home. Now, many leading technologies, such as new-generation information telecommunications and new energy, are penetrating the auto industry at a faster pace. Against the backdrop, Sichuan and Chongqing will bear in mind the goal of promoting high-quality development of the auto industry and give full play to each other's strengths to build an auto industry cluster together.

Specifically, Sichuan and Chongqing will conduct cooperation in improving support capacities of the auto industry, promoting coordination in technology innovation, advancing application demonstration convergence, sharing testing resources, accelerating agglomeration of emerging industries, and so on. In the meanwhile, Sichuan and Chongqing will introduce several leading enterprises and projects designed for completing and strengthening industry chain. By doing so, they aim to promote agglomeration of new energy and connected smart car industries amid the building of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

On the day, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information and Chongqing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement on advancing coordinated development of the auto industry and held the unveiling ceremony for online supply-demand information matchmaking platform for auto industry chain under the framework of Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. At the same time, Chengdu and Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zones also signed a strategic cooperation memorandum. Moreover, Chengdu and Chongqing will form the Auto Industry Innovation Alliance, release reports on coordinated development of the auto industry regularly, and so on.
