A Map for Rural Tourism in Chongqing

By XINYI LIKAILONG TAN|Jul 28,2020

Chongqing Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau and Chongqing Geographic Information and Remote Sensing Application Center released the Map of Key Villages for National Rural Tourism in Chongqing. Let's follow the map to dive into those beautiful villages brimming with Bayu charm.

Nan'an District · Fangniu Village, Nanshan Subdistrict

Tucked away on the Nanshan Mountain, Fangniu Village adjoins Xiakou Town in the east and Nanshan Botanical Garden in the south. Most villagers here depend on growing trees and flowers and rural tourism for their livelihood. On the premise of not harming pristine local ecology, an eco-park that integrates tree and flower growing, tourism, leisure, and sightseeing has been built, offering a good place for citizens for relaxation, vacation, spring outing, and travel.

Banan District · Fengsheng Ancient Town

As one of Chongqing's ten famous historical and cultural towns, Fengsheng Ancient Town has long enjoyed the flattering title of "Number One Land Port by Yangtze River." Charming Ming- and Qing-era architecture featured by gray bricks, black tiles, and decorative hollowed-out windows can be seen everywhere. Every street and lane here is the epitome of Bayu's original mountain-water architecture and ancient business culture, representing a typical Bayu philosophy for nature and humanity harmony.

Yongchuan District · Huangguashan Village at Nandajie Subdistrict

Situated in the south of Yongchuan District, Huangguashan Village rises about 600 meters above the sea level. With pretty natural beauty and sound tourism infrastructure, it is a calling card of Chongqing rural tourism. In spring, visitors can enjoy pear and peach flowers. In summer, visitors can pick bergamot pear and grape. Idyllic sights, adorable flowers, and delicious fruits make it a go-to place all year-round.

Pengshui County · Yingtaojing Village at Runxi Township

Situated in the interior of the Moweishan Scenic Area, Yingtaojing Village boasts forest coverage of over 80% and an average altitude of about 1,300 meters. Such an ideal geographical location gives it a natural resource edge in developing rural tourism. In addition to transportation, altitude, climate, and well-built sightseeing, leisure and summer resort facilities, there are also many competitive tourism resources such as elegant Huangdixia Gorge, imposing Shanliang Mountain, towering Niuyan Peak and the historical site of the government office of Yinglong County (today's Longyang Village, Pengshui County).

Fuling District · Yingxin Residential Community, Damu Township

Situated in Dawuling Mountain Range, Yingxin Residential Community sits nearby the seat of the Damu government and is ten kilometers away from Wuling Mountain National Forest Park. Natural hills and human settlements are in great harmony here. Circled by tall hills, the expansive plain in between is dotted with colorful dwellings connected by zigzag paths. Moreover, there are also many tourist attractions such as Damu Flower Valley and Underforest Garden.

In autumn and winter, about 670 ha of premium Wushan Newhall navel oranges will be harvested, which makes Ganyuan Village a good place for rural tourism, leisure, and sightseeing.
