Chongqing- An investment promotion roadshow of the forthcoming China International Import Expo was held in Chongqing's Yuzhong Hotel on August 18. The event was organized by the Chongqing Municipal Commerce Commission and the CIIE Bureau to attract potential buyers for the 3^rd CIIE's exhibitors of technology equipment and agricultural product.

President Xi Jinping announced the decision to host the annual CIIE event at the Belt & Road Summit for International Cooperation in May of 2017, and it has continued for two consecutive years. As the world's first-ever national-level expo dedicated to the import sector, CIIE serves as a window for global investors to tap into the Chinese market and was also seen by many as a testimony to China's commitment to deepening reform and opening up.

The 3^rd CIIE is scheduled to be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, and Tuesday marks the 76-day countdown to the final event.

"To date, the number of Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders participating in this year's CIIE has already reached the same level as last year", said Shi Huangjun, deputy secretary of the party committee of National Exhibition & Convention Hall (Shanghai). "And four new special exhibition areas for public health & epidemic prevention, smart transportation, energy conservation & environmental protection, as well as sports & competition goods, will be set up."

According to a promotional video shown at the roadshow event, the 3^rd CIIE has a planned exhibition area of 360,000 square meters, 60,000 square meters larger than the previous edition, with six main exhibition areas including trade in services, automobiles, technology equipment, consumer goods, medical appliances & healthcare products, and food & agricultural products.

Chongqing Municipal Government has always attached great importance to the annual CIIE event, and has organized over 1,000 buyers each to the last two editions, said Xu Xincheng, deputy director of the municipal commerce commission. "And with the upcoming 3^rd CIIE still two months ahead, Chongqing has already established several trade divisions and buyers' associations to engage in the event better and fully," he added.

The roadshow was sponsored by the Bank of China (Chongqing Branch), and strictly implemented the relevant epidemic control and prevention measures. It was also live broadcasted to the various trade divisions' buyers, greatly expanded the roadshow's audience coverage, and made it possible for professional buyers to inquire about information regarding specific exhibits in advance.

It's estimated that more than 80 local buyers from the municipality participated in the roadshow event, including Walmart (Chongqing) Department Store Co., Ltd., Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (Group) Co., Ltd., Chongqing Nielson Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd., and Chongqing General Trading Group, etc.
