Chongqing- Stepping into the lobby of INSPUR Group in the Blockchain Digital Economy Industrial Park in Hutouyan, Yuzhong District, the blue quality code numbers on the monitoring platform jump like musical notes, as a line graph displays the latest trend of product sales.

Deputy General Manager Liu Ping of Chongqing Inspur Cloud Chain Information Technology explained. ‘Here, we can observe real-time scan code monitoring, product distribution, storage services, and other information. Whenever the quality code on the product is scanned, it’s possible to trace the entire process from development, production, supply, sales, and after-sales service. Once a code is generated, it can never change. This blockchain ID is highly compatible with all stages of industrial production before and after the sale, opening the door to more profound development in the industrial Internet.’

The deep integration of blockchain technology for QR code product quality traceability is just the latest example of many technological applications developed in the Chongqing Blockchain Digital Economy Industrial Park.

Looking back on the development of the Chongqing Blockchain Digital Economy Industrial Park, which ranks amongst the top five nationwide, Jiang Xuerong, director of the Chongqing Yuzhong District Big Data Administration Bureau, said, ‘The innovative applications of blockchain technology are the leading into the next new economic era.’

Under the strong leadership of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, an innovation-driven development strategic action plan led by big data intelligence was implemented in the year 2017.

The Yuzhong District of Chongqing took the lead in developing the blockchain industry and established the Blockchain Digital Economy, Industrial Park. In November that year, the Chongqing Blockchain Industry Innovation Base made great efforts to create a national demonstration park for blockchain industry innovation. At that time, the industrial park was enjoying rapid development.

A few years ago, Chongqing Municipality took the lead by releasing the Chongqing City Blockchain Digital Economy Industrial Park Development Promotion Measures, intending to attract both domestic and foreign key blockchain companies and scientific research institutes.

Cooperation with the Fifth Electronic Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has led to the construction of the Blockchain Testing and Accreditation Center. In contrast, the Blockchain Talent Training Base was built in conjunction with universities in Chongqing to actively explore the connection to the National Computer Network and Information Security Management Center. Well-known domestic universities and scientific research institutions have explored the possibilities of a blockchain supervision laboratory and research institute.

Chongqing Municipality has hosted the China Smart Expo Blockchain Summit Forum for three consecutive years. It also held the 2020 Online Smart Expo Blockchain Application Innovation Competition, successfully established the first provincial-level blockchain innovation alliance, and organized the China Blockchain Technology Ecological Conference.

Following several years of development, the Chongqing Blockchain Industrial Park has set up nearly 300,000 square meters of floor space for carriers for the first phase and signed contracts to settle in more than 60 companies and institutions such as Inspur and IBM, with an occupancy rate of over 85%.

The second phase of the blockchain park has a carrying capacity of nearly 100,000 square meters, where Humi.com, Venus Star, Beixinyuan, and other demonstration enterprises have already settled in. Jinwowo and other local enterprises have been selected for the China Blockchain Excellent Enterprise Directory, the Best Team Directory, and the Best Business Operation Directory. Chongqing Bangbang Chain Smart Aged Care and the medical and health service ecology of Chongqing Huayi Kangdao has become excellent case examples in the integration and development of blockchain technology in their respective fields.

In 2019, the Chongqing Blockchain Digital Industrial Park successfully connected with the China-Singapore International Internet Data Channel and became one of the 7 China-Singapore Internet Data Channel Demonstration Parks in Chongqing.

According to the 2019 China Blockchain Industry Park Development Report, released by the CCID Blockchain Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Chongqing Blockchain Industrial Park ranks fifth nationwide in terms of competitiveness at the forefront of blockchain bases.
