A special meeting to commend the country’s role models in fighting COVID-19 was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of Sept. 8. Outstanding individuals and collectives, advanced CPC members, and grass-roots organizations during the pandemic were commended accordingly.

Among the city’s 34 individuals and ten collectives awarded at the event were people like Zhou Fachun, Lai Xiaodong, Gan Xiuni, Zhang Xi, and Fu Xianfen, as well as organizations such as the CPC Chongqing Committee of the Municipal Public Health Center and the Shifeng Neighborhood Committee in Wanzhou’s Pailou Subdistrict.

By 6 PM, Chongqing’s heroes returned home from Beijing when their plane arrived at Terminal 3 of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport. Eighteen minutes later, they appeared at the VIP Service Area B to take group photos and left the crowd waiting for them with heart-warming smiles.
