As one of the major theme forums during the 2020 Smart China Expo (SCE) Online, the Smart Application & Quality Life Forum was successfully held at the International Conference Center of Yubei district’s Xiantao Big Data Valley on Sept. 16.

Themed "Journey to Afar, Wisdom for All,” the Forum was sponsored by the Organizing Committee of SCE, and undertaken by the Chongqing Municipal Big Data Application and Development Bureau, the Yubei District People’s Government, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and the State Information Center.

Some 200 representatives, scholars and experts from the leading enterprises, relevant government departments, and research institutions in the fields of smart city applications were invited to attend the Forum. The event was also live-streamed online simultaneously.

Feng Wei, director of the Information Technology Development Department under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, said that digitalization, networking, and intelligence are the distinctive features of the new round of scientific and technological revolution. They are the focus of new-generation information technologies and the indispensable prerequisite for creating a quality life. “It’s something that worth closer attention and bigger commitment from the general public,” Wei added. “There’s huge potential for supply innovation and demand expansion in building a new type of smart city.”

Zhang Xueying, deputy director of the State Information Center, said that they will continue to strengthen and deepen the cooperation with Chongqing, focusing on the planning and construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle Big Data Center, the development of regional data and essential markets, and the analysis of macroeconomic big data-based decisions among other aspects.

At the forum, experts from the renowned enterprises, including Huawei, Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Glodon, E-Hualu, and Kingsoft Cloud, made keynote speeches on civil services, urban governance, government management, industrial integration, and ecological environment. They explored the inclusive value and future direction of life driven by smart applications, discussed hot-button issues such as technology frontier, application environment, development trend, and market demand of 5G and Artificial Intelligence. Smart applications can become a powerful foundation and growth engine for creating quality life for all people, which will in turn speed up the construction of a people-centered new type smart city.

Three “all-in-one” smart innovation and application scenarios were also demonstrated at the Forum, including the "Jiazhou Garden Smart Fire-Control Platform," the "Smart Blood Sugar Monitoring Platform," and the "Smart Health Management Platform." Experts from governments, enterprises, and scientific research institutions were invited to moment on these application scenarios and discuss the development of smart applications and innovation.
