The BOE (Chongqing) Smart System Innovation Center set up by BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. (BOE) in Liangjiang New Area officially started its construction on October 30.

Liangzhi Tang, Deputy Secretary of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, and Yanshun Chen, Chairman of BOE, attended the commencement.

According to Chen, the Center will incubate more than 100 innovative projects and 50 innovative companies in the next five years, supporting Chongqing's ultimate target to build itself into a "powerhouse of intelligent manufacturing" and a "famous smart city." With its location at Liangjiang New Area, BOE has invested in six projects in Chongqing, which will drive the industry chain's development valued at 100 billion yuan.

The representative project comes to the 8.5 generation LCD panel production line. With an investment of 32.8 billion yuan in total, this project has achieved full production and sales, becoming the global most competitive 8.5 generation TFT-LCD production line.

Specifically, Sci-tech innovation is the major highlight of the BOE (Chongqing) Smart System Innovation Center. Based on some cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing, the Center will target smart internet of vehicles, smart retail, and smart finance to set up five platforms involving integrated technological development of software and hardware, new materials, and transformation of equipment, product and service marketing display, international talent exchange and training, and open technology and market cooperation, aiming to build itself into a global leading smart system innovation center.

Chen said the five platforms would help BOE to gather valuable resources of industry chain in the semiconductor display sector across China into Chongqing to achieve complete independence and control of the industry chain.

The Center has also set a clear five-year goal to introduce more than 5,000 high-level R&D professionals and incubate more than 100 innovative projects and 50 innovative companies.

Furthermore, BOE will make moves in Chengdu as well. In this June, BOE said that it planned to build smart system innovative centers in both Chengdu and Chongqing.

The decision to build innovation centers in both places will facilitate BOE to respond to the national development strategy, promote the interactive development of regional resources, and boost the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle by developing the semiconductor display sector, to build an advantageous industrial cluster with global influence.
