Chongqing - As one of the most anticipated series activities during the ongoing 7th China Hot Spring Tourism Promotion Season, the 3rd China International Symposium on Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy Tourism was held at the Haiyu Hot Spring Hotel in Chongqing’s Beibei District on Thursday.

Themed “Hot Spring Innovation, Health Empowerment,” the Symposium invited officials and experts from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy, China Tourism Association, Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission, Municipal Meteorology Bureau, Beibei District People’s Government, Chongqing Hot Spring Tourism Association, Southwest University, Chongqing Medical University to attend the opening ceremony and hold discussions on topics on the hot spring tourism development.

As the global COVID-19 situation is still not brought under effective control yet, president Umberto Solimene and vice president G. Gurnari of the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy couldn’t make it in person to the opening ceremony and therefore recorded video messages to be played during the symposium.

“I should, first of all, express my warmest thanks to Chongqing Municipal of Culture and Tourism Development,” said President Solimene. “During the difficult time of COVID-19, they gave us a lot of support to organize this important meeting.” Professor Gurnari also highly praised Chongqing in hosting the symposium, “this pandemic teaches us that the most important thing in life is health… I firmly believe that China could play a more important role in the world.”

The event takes the angles of hot spring products and hot spring project innovation. It features keynote speeches from more than 100 representatives of globally well-known hot spring hotel brands, hot spring product brands, hydrotherapy brands, and hot spring operation brands, pooling wisdom on how better to seize the opportunities of health tourism industry development and push on the sustainable development of hydrotherapy and climatotherapy innovation.

Near the end of the symposium, an “Outstanding Contributions Award” was given to the Beibei Bolian Hot Spring for their dedicated efforts in promoting hydrotherapy and climatotherapy. Seven other hot spring enterprises were also awarded the “Star Hot Spring Hotel” honor during the opening ceremony.

This year’s event was organized by the Asia-Pacific (Chongqing) Institute for Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy Tourism, Chongqing Folk Musical Troupe, and Chongqing North Hot Spring Development Co., Ltd., sponsored by the China Tourism Association Hot Spring, and Chongqing Hot Spring Tourism Industry Association, and guided by the Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission, Municipal Meteorology Bureau, and the Beibei District People’s Government.
