Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality in southwestern China will strengthen their planning matchmaking and policy interaction, jointly creating a world-class advanced manufacturing cluster.

This is under the cooperation agreement on jointly promoting the collaborative development in the manufacturing industry of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle by the two sides.

Sichuan and Chongqing have a solid foundation in the automobile industry and the electronic information industry.

Both agreed to take the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle as the opportunity to speed up the development of an electronic information industry ecosystem supported by world-class electronic information industry clusters and first-class enterprises.

This helps to integrate their advantageous sectors in the electronic information industry and promote the clustering, intensive, sound, and sustainable development of Sichuan and Chongqing's electronic information industry.

According to their agreement, Sichuan and Chongqing will collaborate in the electronic information industry, including integrated circuits, communication terminals, electronic components, and other sectors.

They also plan to jointly promote the transformation and upgrading of their electronic information industry and high-quality development by improving industrial supporting facilities, promoting technological breakthroughs, and strengthening talent training.

The automobile and electronic information serves as the supporting point of the collaborative development in the manufacturing industry between Sichuan and Chongqing. This is based on solid research and thorough consideration conducted by the relevant departments of both places.

Taking the automobile industry as an example, Sichuan and Chongqing have gradually established an automobile industry system integrating R&D, manufacturing, selling, and maintaining complete vehicles and key components.

The proportion of automobile production accounts for more than 10% of China's total, and the system lays a solid foundation for building a world-class automobile industry cluster.

When it comes to the electronic information industry, the electronic information industry has become the pillar of the two places.

In 2019, Sichuan achieved more than one trillion yuan (about 150 billion U.S. dollars) in the industry's output value, and Chongqing achieved more than 0.7 trillion yuan. Their combined output value is among the top in China.

Besides, electronic information industrial clusters in the two places are highly related and complementary, providing foundations and conditions for the coordinated development.
