The Chongqing-Singapore Agricultural Product Trade Online Matchmaking Event was held at the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau on December 15.

Representatives of Chongqing companies showed fresh agricultural and special local products to relevant companies in Singapore and Malaysia via video calls.

Over ten products were promoted during the event, including oranges from Zhongxian County, pomelos from Liangping, radishes from Chaqi Mountain, and Hechuan Taopian (lit. walnut slices). Attendees were from nearly 60 companies from Singapore and Malaysia, engaging in agricultural product trade and distribution.

Fruits and vegetables that grow on the mountains, condiments, and local snacks, which were the "stars" of this event, are the most attractive products from Chongqing to Singaporean companies. Besides, the event invited two logistics enterprises and one foreign trade service provider to answer questions on the trade service environment cared about by Singapore companies.

"The matchmaking event offers another channel for Singapore companies to understand Chongqing," said Jimmy Soh, Deputy President of the Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association.

Soh attended the event online, saying the Internet opened a new window for Chongqing and Singapore and allowed the two places, thousands of miles apart, to exchange business news. He also hoped that companies of the two could seize the opportunity to establish more partnerships.

Since June 2019, the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau, International Enterprise Singapore, Chongqing Agriculture and Rural Committee, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, and Chongqing Customs District reached a consensus about the promotion of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Agricultural Cooperation Demonstration Program.

They drafted the Implementation Plan of China-Singapore (Chongqing) Agricultural Cooperation Demonstration Program to build a new agricultural cooperation model between West China and ASEAN, with Chongqing and Singapore serving as the two cores.
